Project Identity
Cherry Bangarang is my first photo-to-auto project—my version of a Cherry Bang Bang autoflower, originally a photoperiod strain from Exotic Genetix.
The project was made to bring the Red Pop terp profile I found in Cherry Bang Bang #2 into an autoflower. The result carries four different expressions across the Cherry Bang Bang, Candy Smash and Purple Spright sides of the work.
They are all amazing phenos. I honestly can't even pick my favorite.
Phenotype Notes
Cherry Bang Bang mixed with Candy Smash.
Loud strawberry Fanta terps from the Cherry Bang Bang side.
Nose-piercing sour cherry, with Chem Candy dominating from the Candy Smash lineage.
Extra sweet—like Mtn Dew Code Red and Tahitian Treat had a baby. Purple Spright-leaning, with mulled wine scents showing during a longer cure.
Project History
I fell in love with Red Pop terps when I first grew Red Runtz a few years ago. It is still my favorite smell and taste. I grew more strains with Red Pop or strawberry jelly in their lineage, looking for that specific terp profile.
I tried Solfire and Exotic Genetix strains including Bahama Berry, Red Runtz, Double Bubble, Bitties, Fizzy Drank and Cherry Bang Bang. That is where I found Cherry Bang Bang #2. It had the exact Red Pop terps I was looking for, and I wanted that terp profile in an autoflower so more people could enjoy it.
I took clones of Cherry Bang Bang #2, ran it again and pollinated it with Checkered Cookies to start bringing the auto trait in. From those seeds, I found a beautiful photoperiod female with all the Red Pop traits I wanted. I cloned that plant and pollinated it with Candy Smash. Those seeds became Cherry Cookie Smash.
Cherry Cookie Smash was F1, but also 50% photoperiod and 50% autoflower. I popped nearly 40 beans, culled the runts and removed every photoperiod. That left 10 autoflowers to choose from.
I reversed a Hawaiian Punch pheno of Purple Spright onto the most Red Pop-leaning Cherry Cookie Smash mother. I call this strain Cherry Bangarang.
“This is not your traditional photo to auto, this is my crazy form of ‘art’, but the terps will speak for itself.”
Field Notes
Red Pop typically does not stretch much in flower. Keep that in mind when topping or training. I would personally let it grow naturally and only top it if the center gets much taller than the rest of the plant, or if height is an issue.
